Aunt Sue's Almond Wedges

Here is a recipe for my favorite food- almond wedges! These delicious desserts are great for any occasion,  but especially christmas. This recipe makes them so gooey on the inside, and so sugary on the outside, that this is sure to be your favorite food soon, too!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup margarine (do not use butter)
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 tbsp almond extract
  • 1 egg
  • 1 egg white
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup shaved almonds
Preheat oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Cream margarine and sugar, then add extract and beat in whole egg. Add flour and mix. Divide into two pie tins and pat into place (If you want, use foil so you can give it as a gift). Take the unbeaten egg white and pour onto first tin, swirling to make a glaze, then onto second. Pour off excess. Pat almonds onto dough. Bake thirty to thirty five minutes.
Can also do in a 9x13 inch pan. Freezes well. You can sprinkle a bit of sugar on top of almonds if desired.

Yum! My stomach is rumbling.  Thanks to Auntie Sue Sue for all the love and delicious recipes!
