Hey guys!
My grandma (Gammy) sent this recipe to me. It was adapted from a recipe given by Judy Peters to Arlene Hoffman around thirty years ago! I hope you enjoy it! I have not yet tested it out so if there are any changes that you would suggest, please post a comment!
Ingredients:
1 box German Chocolate Cake Mix
1 cup chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts work best)
1 cup canned evaporated milk
3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) melted butter
1 bag (11oz) Kraft Caramel Bits
1 small bag(8 oz) chocolate chips
1. Mix together the cake mix, nuts, 2/3 of the evaporated milk, and butter (just put the dry cake mix in a bowl, not mixed according to the cake mix instructions).
2. Press half of the mixture into a buttered and floured 9 by 13 inch pan.
3.Bake 6 minutes at 350 degrees F.
4. In a double boiler, melt the caramels with the remaining 1/3 cup evaporated milk.
5. Remove the brownies from the oven and sprinkle the chocolate chips over baked mixture, then drizzle the melted caramel mixture over the chips. Smooth out with a silicone spatula.
6. Warm the remaining cake mixture and then put evenly on top of the brownies. Bake 18 minutes.
7. Cool 5 minutes, then 30 minutes in the refrigerator. Cut and store.
Thanks, Gammy!
